What if I trigger it by accident?
A 3-second countdown gives you time to cancel using your personal PIN code. This safety mechanism protects you in two ways: first, it prevents false alarms from alerting your emergency contacts unnecessarily. Second, only your PIN works — so if someone forces you to cancel the alert, entering an incorrect PIN will keep the emergency running silently in the background, protecting you even when an attacker thinks they've stopped it. This unique two-PIN system ensures that Zentri can never be disabled by an attacker.
Does it work when my mobile is on silent?
Yes, absolutely. Zentri uses Apple's iOS Critical Alerts system, which is specifically designed for emergency scenarios. Critical Alerts bypass silent mode, Do Not Disturb (DND), and mute switches — the siren plays at full volume regardless of your phone's settings. This ensures that in a real emergency, nothing prevents people from hearing your call for help. The siren volume cannot be reduced or disabled by system settings, making it one of Zentri's most reliable protective features.
Will someone be able to track me without my consent?
No. Zentri has zero background location tracking and never monitors your position continuously. Your location is only shared during emergencies — the exact moment you trigger an SOS alert. Location sharing stops immediately when you cancel the alert using your PIN. Once an emergency ends, location data is not retained for continuous tracking. This privacy-first design means Zentri respects your autonomy: you control when and how your location is shared with others.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Zentri is designed for reliability even when your mobile data is unavailable. If your data connection fails, SMS alerts are sent directly through your carrier's cellular network — no internet required. This fallback ensures that even in areas with poor connectivity or if your data is disabled, your emergency contacts still receive immediate notification via text message. Live location sharing requires a data connection, but the critical alert SMS will always reach your contacts.
Do my contacts need the app?
No. Your emergency contacts don't need to download or install Zentri. When you trigger an SOS, they receive a standard SMS text message with a secure link to your live location. Clicking that link opens a simple webpage in any browser showing your real-time GPS position. This design removes friction: your contacts can be anyone (family, friends, trusted neighbours) with just a phone number, and they can view your location immediately without installation barriers.
How does Zentri protect my privacy?
Zentri follows a privacy-first principle: we never track your location or record audio unless you explicitly trigger an SOS alert. Nothing runs in the background listening or monitoring — all safety features are dormant until you activate them. All evidence (audio recordings and location history) is encrypted end-to-end and stored in your private account. Data retention follows strict limits: 7 days on the free tier, 30 days on Premium, then automatic deletion. Zentri fully complies with GDPR regulations — your data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for profiling. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time with a single action.
